Meet the Team & Mission
We're a UK Community Interest Company on a mission to help people move from crisis to stability, and from stability to independence.
Our Mission
To help homeless, disabled and neurodivergent people move from crisis to stability, from stability to opportunity, and from opportunity to sustainable independence β through housing, recovery, employment and self-employment support.
We provide active navigation and advocacy: identifying what someone needs, connecting them to the right services, and staying involved until they get there. We ensure that nobody who comes to RemoteAbility has to navigate housing, recovery and employment services alone.
Our Vision
A future where homelessness, disability, mental health conditions and neurodivergence are not barriers to a safe home and meaningful work β where people are met with active support, not a list of phone numbers.
We believe that with the right support, anyone can move from crisis towards stability, and from stability towards independence β regardless of health, housing status, or where they're starting from.
Why RemoteAbility Exists
Disabled people and those with mental health conditions are unemployed in the UK (vs. 20% of non-disabled people)
Annual cost of lost economic contribution from disabled unemployment
Government funding announced for homelessness and rough-sleeping services from 2026/27, over three years
The barriers are real β but not insurmountable
People facing homelessness, disability, mental health conditions or addiction are too often bounced between services, handed a phone number, and left to work out the rest alone. Meanwhile the systems that could help β housing, benefits, health, employment β rarely talk to each other, and the person in the middle pays the price.
The government has published A National Plan to End Homelessness, with commitments including halving long-term rough sleeping by the end of this Parliament, preventing more households from becoming homeless, and ending the unlawful use of bed-and-breakfast accommodation for families. A further government announcement in July 2026 launched a drive to end rough sleeping "at the earliest opportunity," backed initially by an additional Β£340 million for homes and intensive support.
RemoteAbility bridges the gap between policy and the person. We identify what someone needs, connect them to the right services, help them navigate the system, and stay involved through recovery, stabilisation and β for those who want it β work or self-employment.
Our Approach: Housing, Recovery, Work and Independence
π§ Advocacy, Not Signposting
We don't just hand someone a phone number and call that done. We help them navigate the system until they reach the right organisation β and we stay involved.
βΏ Lived Experience
Our team has lived experience of disability, benefits and employment barriers. We design with insight, not assumptions.
π Housing First, Judgement Never
Safety comes before everything else. We help people access emergency accommodation and stability without conditions or gatekeeping.
π± Recovery, Coordinated
Where addiction is involved, we connect people to appropriate treatment and coordinate with housing and recovery organisations β without claiming to deliver clinical treatment ourselves.
π Realistic Progression
Safe β Stable β Ready β Independent. We don't force anyone into training or self-employment β we offer it as one of several realistic routes, when someone is ready.
π€ We Stay Involved
Monthly mentoring, wellbeing check-ins, and safeguarding support don't stop once the immediate crisis is resolved.

What is a Community Interest Company (CIC)?
Community Interest Company
RemoteAbility is a Community Interest Company (CIC)βa special type of UK limited company designed for social enterprises. CICs are businesses with a social mission, regulated to ensure profits are reinvested for public good.
What This Means for You:
- βMission-locked: We exist to help people move from crisis to independence, not to maximize shareholder profit.
- βTransparent: We publish annual reports and are regulated by the CIC Regulator.
- βAsset-locked: If we ever close, our assets go to another social enterpriseβnever to private owners.
- βAccountable: Our board includes people with lived experience of disability and employment barriers.
Unlike charities, CICs can trade commercially. This means we can partner with businesses, councils and commissioners, run client projects, and generate sustainable income β while staying true to our social mission.
Our Values
π€ Dignity & Respect
We treat every person as an individual with agency, not a 'case' or 'beneficiary.' You're here to be supported, and β when ready β to contribute and earn, with dignity.
βΏ Disability & Housing Justice
Barriers are systemic, not individual. We fight to remove those barriers β through advocacy, coordination, and proving a better model is possible.
π Nobody Navigates Alone
We do not simply hand people a list of organisations. We stay involved until someone reaches the support they need.
π Transparency
We share our outcomes, challenges, and finances openly. If something isn't working, we say so β and we adapt.
π‘ Innovation
The system that's supposed to support people from crisis to independence is broken. We're building something new β testing, learning, and sharing what works.
π― Results, Not Rhetoric
Good intentions aren't enough. We measure success by real outcomes: people supported, barriers removed, lives changed.
