Our Pathway to Independence
A four-stage journey — Safe, Stable, Ready, Independent — with active support at every step, not just a phone number.
Safe: Housing, Recovery & Urgent Support
Building safety first. When you come to us, we start by understanding what you urgently need — and we stay involved until you reach the right support.
Immediate Contact & Assessment
- ✓Understanding what you urgently need: accommodation, food, ID, benefits, medical or mental-health support
- ✓Identifying safeguarding concerns, including domestic abuse
- ✓Helping you get a phone, email address or postal address
Active Housing Support
- ✓Contacting the correct council homelessness team with you
- ✓Completing housing and homelessness applications
- ✓Gathering identification and supporting evidence
- ✓Attending or preparing for appointments
- ✓Explaining letters and decisions in plain language
- ✓Connecting you with shelters and supported accommodation
- ✓Challenging it if you're being passed between services
Rehabilitation & Specialist Referrals
Where addiction is involved, we discuss available treatment options, refer you to an appropriate drug or alcohol service, help arrange assessments, and support you through initial appointments — coordinating with housing and recovery organisations. We do not deliver clinical rehabilitation ourselves — our role is to identify, connect, encourage, advocate and remain involved.

Why This Matters Now
The government has published A National Plan to End Homelessness, with a long-term vision to end homelessness and rough sleeping and ensure everyone can access a safe, secure home. Its commitments include halving long-term rough sleeping by the end of this Parliament, preventing more households from becoming homeless, and ending the unlawful use of bed-and-breakfast accommodation for families. Funding announced for homelessness and rough-sleeping services from 2026/27 totals roughly £3.6 billion over three years.
A further government announcement in July 2026 launched a drive to end rough sleeping "at the earliest opportunity," backed initially by an additional £340 million for homes and intensive support.
RemoteAbility CIC is positioned as a community delivery and navigation partner supporting that national objective — helping people move through the system, not just pointing at it.
What Makes Our Approach Different
Built With Lived Experience
Our team has lived experience of disability, benefits and the barriers people face navigating support systems. We understand because we've been there.
Advocacy, Not Just Signposting
We don't hand you a phone number and walk away. We help you make contact, complete applications, and keep going until you reach the right service.
One Pathway, Wherever You Are
Safe, Stable, Ready, Independent — a consistent model across the UK, coordinated by one team who knows your story from first contact onward.
Flexible & Self-Paced
Manage your energy, health, recovery and care responsibilities. We work at your pace, not a fixed timetable.
Real Work When You're Ready
For those who reach the Ready and Independent stages, real client projects and in-demand skills — not theoretical exercises.
Realistic Choices, Not One Route
Employment, freelancing, or a home-based business. We help you choose the route that actually fits your life — no single path forced on anyone.
Pathway FAQs
Who is eligible for RemoteAbility's support?
Our support is open to people sleeping rough, people in temporary accommodation, people at risk of homelessness, disabled people, neurodivergent people, people recovering from addiction, and people who struggle with conventional employment. You don't need to fit every category — if you're not sure, get in touch.
Do you provide emergency accommodation or rehabilitation directly?
No. RemoteAbility does not provide emergency accommodation or clinical rehabilitation directly. We help you access the right services, complete referrals and applications, overcome barriers, and remain supported throughout your journey.
What if I only need help with one part of this — like housing, not training?
That's completely fine. You can access support at any stage of the pathway. Not everyone needs or wants to move into the Ready or Independent stages, and that's your choice.
What if I don't have the equipment I need to take part?
Let us know as part of your assessment. We'll work with you to find a practical solution for the equipment or digital access you need for the Ready and Independent stages.
Will engaging with RemoteAbility affect my benefits?
It depends on your situation. We offer guidance on Universal Credit, ESA, PIP, and Permitted Work rules to help you stay compliant while stabilising, training, or earning. We'll support you through the process.
Can I get support from anywhere in the UK?
Yes. RemoteAbility supports people anywhere in the United Kingdom, coordinating with local services wherever you are.
