Six-Week Pathway to Independence Programme
Six weeks of practical support towards stability, skills, employment, self-employment and sustainable independence.
📚 One Programme, Not Three Separate Trainings
The RemoteAbility Pathway to Independence Programme supports homeless, disabled, neurodivergent and disadvantaged people to overcome barriers, access essential support, and move towards sustainable work, self-employment or business ownership. This is the detailed, practical curriculum within the Ready and Independent stages of our wider Pathway.
The programme recognises that not everybody begins from the same position. Some participants may be ready to start a business immediately. Others may first need support with housing, addiction recovery, mental or physical health, benefits, identification documents, banking, digital access, confidence, daily routines, or employment preparation. That's why the programme opens with its own assessment and stabilisation stage — not everyone needs it, but everyone gets the chance to use it.
Three Two-Week Stages
Four Possible Progression Routes
By the end of Week 2, every participant chooses one primary pathway — full details are covered in Stage One.
Part-time, full-time, remote, flexible or supported work, or a gradual return to work.
Selling a skill or service independently — virtual assistance, content, cleaning, gardening, repairs, admin, design, photography, tutoring, delivery and more.
For participants with a viable idea, reasonable stability, and the capacity to find and serve customers.
Recovery, volunteering, routine-building and confidence work — still progress, not failure.
Programme Delivery Model
Group Workshops
Two group workshops per week covering skills, digital tools, employment, business, sales, AI, confidence and practical exercises.
One-to-One Mentoring
Every participant receives at least one individual session each week, reviewing personal barriers, referrals, progress, goals, safeguarding, adjustments and next actions.
Practical Action Sessions
Supported time to make calls, complete forms, apply for work, contact customers, prepare documents, attend online appointments, use digital tools and follow up referrals.

Programme FAQs
Do I need any previous experience to join?
No. The programme is designed for complete beginners and starts with a full needs assessment — not an assumption that you're already work-ready.
Do I have to choose employment, freelancing or business straight away?
No. You choose your progression route at the end of Week 2, once you've had a full assessment and a chance to discover your strengths. If you're not ready for any of those yet, Pathway D (Preparation and Recovery) is a valid and supported route.
Is the programme fully remote?
Yes. All training, mentoring and practical action sessions are delivered remotely. You can take part from anywhere in the UK with an internet connection — and we can help with digital access if you don't have it yet.
What if I only need help with housing or recovery, not training?
That's completely fine — visit I Need Support or see the Safe and Stable stage of Our Pathway. This six-week programme is for people who are ready to move into structured skills-building and work preparation.
Is the programme free?
Yes. All training is provided at no cost to participants. If you need additional equipment or adjustments, let us know and we'll help you find a practical solution.
What happens after the six weeks?
Every participant leaves with a ninety-day progression plan and an ongoing mentoring schedule. Support doesn't stop at Week 6 — we review progress at completion, thirty days, ninety days, six months and twelve months.
